Aeneas, Migration and Europe
A Theatrical Work In Progress

Our Festival history is filled with musical encounters in working residencies, and this year we’re delighted to expand the format to theatre via an open call. Together with the fantastic Globe Art Point, we chose an international group formed by the stellar UK-based arts production house Dash Arts for a week-long residency where they’re going to be working on an immersive theatre production – a contemporary reimagining of Virgil’s Aeneid, exploring this timeless tale of migration through the lens of Europe today. Their work-in-progress will be revealed on the closing day of the Festival.

Globe Art Point is an association advocating for cultural equity, diversity and inclusion in the arts and cultural sector in Finland.

Meidän Festivaalin historiaan mahtuu monia hienoja muistoja musiikillisista residensseistä, ja on suuri ilo laajentaa tätä hedelmällistä työskentelytapaa musiikkiteatterilliseen ilmaisuun. Yhdessä fantastisen Globe Art Pointin kanssa toteuttamassamme avoimessa residenssihaussa valituksi tulleen loistavan brittiläisen Dash Arts -esitystaiteen tuotantotalon muodostaman kansainvälisen työryhmän teos tutkii nykypäivän eurooppalaista identiteettiä ja tarttuu haastaviin kysymyksiin vapaan liikkuvuuden tulevaisuudesta sekä kulttuurisen ymmärryksen tärkeydestä. Odotamme innolla keskusteluja työryhmän jäsenten kanssa teoksen etenemisestä iltateen äärellä.

Globe Art Point (G.A.P) on yhdistys, joka tekee tärkeää työtä Suomessa asuvien, ulkomaalaissyntyisten taiteilijoiden aseman ja työllistymisen tukemiseksi.
